Kathy says. . .
I was honored to be appointed to the Zone 7 Board of Directors in February 2023 to fill an open seat and I am excited about the opportunity to continue to serve the tri-valley for the next four years.
After serving on the Pleasanton City Council for 9 ½ years, which included representing Pleasanton on the Tri-Water Round table, the City/Zone 7 liaison Committee, and the water rates sub-committee, joining the Zone 7 Board of Directors was a logical next step to bring the perspective of a retailer to the board as well as a good use of my chemical engineering background.
Experience in local and regional government matters, and to date I have over 2 decades of experience both at the local and regional level on a range of issues including water, transportation, regional development, schools and the environment.
Communication, transparency and accessibility are key for good governance; all very important to me.
I look forward to hearing from you and encourage you to reach out with questions or comments by clicking on the Contact Kathy page.
Warmly,
Kathy
About Zone 7
Zone 7 Water Agency began in 1957 after voters approved creation of the agency's creation to be responsible for water resource management and flood protection in the tri-valley area.
Creating Zone 7 means local control for our water. Zone 7 purchases most of water supply from the state water project, Lake Oroville and serves as the water wholesaler for the tri-valley water retailers: Cal Water, DSRSD, Livermore and Pleasanton. Zone 7 also supplies non-potable water for agricultural uses in the tri-valley.
Zone 7 has invested in various water treatment technologies including reverse osmosis at the Mocho Groundwater Demineralization Plant; ozonation at Del Valle and Patterson Pass Water Treatment Plants; and ion exchange treatment for PFAs removal at the Stoneridge Well facility.
Regarding our natural environment, California's Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) designates Zone 7 as the Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) for the ground water basins within our boundaries. Zone 7 also manages a 37 mile network of streams and flood channels.
